Tape deck Viewmeter

I came across a tape deck vu meter. The display
is a VFD, Type BD-7(M). Here are the numbers on the
board.

Connector pinout:

6 pin soldered flat cable
----------------------------
A: Channel 1
B: GND
C: Channel 2
D: Adjust
E: VCC
F: 6 Vac


The VFD is driven by 2 chips (one per channel), they
are BA658's and seem to have the following pinout:
1: Signal in?
2: Segment 1
3: Segment 2
4: Segment 3
5: Segment 4
6: Segment 5
7: Segment 6
8: Signal Ground
9: VCC
10: Segment 7
11: Segment 8
12: Segment 9
13: Segment 10
14: Segment 11 
15: Segment 12
16: Sensibility? (tied to ground via a trim-pot)

I could not find the datasheet for the IC, so there must
be errors, especially in the pin naming and the segment order.
